Any chance you'd share your recipe?  We have apple trees AND a pear tree...

Haha tasty it was indeed. It didn't last more than 2 days. 

I loaded an earlier recipe used for a few years, but I think it was this one I used as a base: http://www.bestrecipes.com.au/...apple-pie-L3136.html

(and just realized that I should call it a pie rather than a cake) 

I replaced the 6 apples with about 8 pears and diced them, but the amount really depends on the size of the pears. Mine were quite small this year (possibly due to some night frosts back in May).

I indeed added some raisins. I didn't weight how much, but think there was a raisin for every dice of pear, maybe a little less. 

I also added 5 to 6 (full) teaspoons of cinnamon to the pear filling (I love cinnamon so I always sprinkle to my hearts content).

I didn't use milk & sugar on the top, but instead just brushed some egg on it for the brown shine. The pastry and filling is sweet enough, lol.

Lastly, I used the traditional 'lattice' shape for the top, but you can do anything you like as long as you have enough pastry left. I used about 1:3 pastry for the top. Also, some like to add lemon juice and/or cider, but I have no idea if that goes well with pears. Raisins seem to do so maybe any recipe with apples can be done with pears.

Sounds nice Lori! Pies like this could be done in little time depending on how fast you can peel and dice those pears. I'm clearly no chef on that regard, lol.

I just have to chime in here to say thanks for the recipe, but I'll be making it sans raisins. Because raisins in baked goods are not ok.

Haha understandable. For centuries, raisins have been known for the "love 'em or hate 'em" mentality.
